Endor’s Way

When Detective Michael Jameson’s mutilated body washes up on Bondi Beach, Australia, his partner Sean Harrigan swears to bring his killers to justice. At first, it is assumed that Jameson was murdered by the psychopathic drug lord Endor, but as the investigation progresses, he begins to wonder if elements within the Sydney Police Service could also be involved. In search of proof, he travels to Ireland, where he discovers startling facts about his own family before meeting with one of the IRA’s top men, Seamus O’Neal, who may hold the key to Endor’s identity.  Endor’s Way is a mystery/thriller set between Bondi Beach, Sydney, and Ireland.

Sydney Drug Squad Detective Sean Harrigan is on the hunt for a ruthless drug cartel mastermind. But as he delves deeper into their operations, he realizes that his own personal demons are just as dangerous to confront. Can he find redemption before it’s too late?

Exerpt from Chapter 1:

It’s not easy walking away from a career as a cop; ten years in the force, people smell it on you, some smell security, some smell cordite.

I’d transferred to the Sydney Drug and Firearms Squad three years ago, hoping to rekindle a passion extinguished by too many years in Homicide. Turned out the Drug Squad was no better. The rusted-on hierarchical structures and macho horseshit that still prevail within the NSW Police Force had all but done my head in.

I’d signed up for the academy at twenty-eight, gung-ho and determined to make a difference. Ten years later, I found myself acquiescing to guys I had no respect for, being overlooked for promotions I’d earned, and keeping my mouth shut about incidents that would have shaken the foundations of the NSW Government if the press had ever gotten wind of the stories.

The mobile shrilled, caller ID blocked, I ignored it. Five-thirty am calls can be nothing but trouble. I headed for the kitchen for a refill. Black coffee and toast, my breakfast of choice since we’d split; a trial separation she’d called it. The mobile rang again.  I took a sip of coffee and stared out the window. The first glimmers of light were beginning to reshape the edges of the horizon, separating clouds from the dark line of the ocean. Things had gone to hell the last few months. It rang again. It wasn’t going to stop.
